How did you get started in the logistics industry, and what has your journey been like so far?
First I worked within the supply chain for 4 years of a production company. Started in logistics 2.5 years ago when I founded TGS Logistics.
As a new company it’s hard to create a name for yourself, but now after a few years we’ve been able to get ourselves out there more and more.
Through our own IATA license, own portal and strong carrier connections we are able to meet our clients pricing requirements and through our personal and proactive approach also the clients communication needs.
If there is one thing that you could change about the logistics industry, what would it be and why?
If I could change one thing, it would be to increase digitalization across the industry in all the countries.
Logistics still involves a lot of manual processes and often lacks the transparency that customers expect today.
By implementing more standardized + digital solutions, we could improve efficiency and provide clients with real-time insights, helping them make better-informed decisions.
What is the most exciting project or shipment you have been working on recently?
One of our most exciting recent projects involved coordinating time-sensitive goods for one of the biggest retailers in the USA. This project required seamless integration across air, customs, and road transport, leveraging our direct connections to ensure everything moved efficiently under tight deadlines.
I’m especially proud of this project because it highlighted the flexibility and problem-solving capabilities of our team. Not only did we overcome the challenges, but we also exceeded our client’s expectations, delivering exceptional results.
Which life lesson has working in logistics taught you?
Working in logistics has taught me the importance of staying calm under pressure for the team, the customer and yourself😊
With so many parts, unexpected challenges, last-minute changes or equipment shortages we have learned that having a proactive mindset and a willingness to adapt are essential.
What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?
What I love most about logistics is the dynamic nature of the industry, each shipment has an unique challenge.
Finding the best solutions for clients and negotiating directly with carriers to secure the best terms.
And also the logistics sector must take a lot of steps in digitalization, as TGS we invest in this transition by our portal and software.
How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?
At TGS Logistics, we prioritize relationships and direct communication with our clients.
Being a relatively new company allows us to be responsive and flexible, which larger competitors might struggle to match.
Our strong carrier connections and IATA license give us a pricing advantage and allow us to provide solutions that meet our clients’ unique needs.
What do you like the most about being a member of ALFA network?
Being a member of this logistics network has been so valuable for TGS Logistics.
It allows us to expand our reach to a global network of trusted partners, which is critical for serving our clients effectively.
How do you relax in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy staying active by going for runs or playing sports. But also with the office we try to plan some activities once per 2 week, watching sports together, having a beer etc, this helps a lot to keep the pressure away.
I also enjoy traveling and exploring new places, which reminds me of the global connections I work with every day!
Thank you, Ruben, for sharing your story with us!
