Wan Hai ordering four new built 13.000 TEU vessels
Shipping company Wan Hai Lines recently reported its results for Q1/2021. Wan Hai’s revenue was up a significant 114% from Q1/2020, to TWD 38.62 billion (USD 1.37 billion), while net profit took a great leap of 157% to TWD 14.78 billion (USD 526.09 million).
The Chinese liner based in Taiwan also ordered four more newbuilds. With a capacity of 13,000 teu each the new vessels will add another 50,000 teu to Wan Hai’s fleet. The carrier launched a newbuild programme with nine 13,000 teu units just two months ago.
Though mainly engaged in intra-Asia traffic, the recently ordered neo-Panamaxes would be deployed on services calling the Americas, the USA and the South American west Coast, for instance. Business is heating up. (cd)
