Inside Alfa: Behind the Scenes of Logistics with Paweł Popczyński

In this edition of Inside Alfa, we feature Paweł Popczyński from NTA Ltd, based in Gdynia, Poland. Paweł shares his journey, insights, and experience in managing complex logistics operations and what makes NTA a key player in the industry.

How did you get started in the logistics industry and what is your experience in NTA?

I began my logistics journey in 2009 when I started my studies at the Maritime University of Szczecin. After graduating, I spent over 7 years at sea building my experience as a Navigation Officer, working on general cargo/heavy lift vessels, containerships, and chemical tankers. This period laid the foundation for my further education and professional growth.

What is the most exciting project or shipment you have been working on recently?

We manage numerous projects that require integrating ocean transportation, port operations, warehouse handling, rail and road freight, IT solutions, customs, and more. It’s difficult to pinpoint the most exciting one, as each project can be engaging—it all depends on our approach.

What do you enjoy most about the logistics industry, and what makes your role particularly fulfilling?

Logistics is life—I really feel it. Logistics is everywhere, starting with family and Christmas organizing (😉), through work and project management, and ending with the logistics of goods, which is our main activity at NTA. For me, the most attractive part is overseeing the many factors that impact the overall view of the projects we work on. We have to stay open-minded and think out of the box every day. I feel fulfilled when I can leave my desk, visit clients or ports, and experience the transport possibilities with my whole being.

As we know your company is strong with Pulp & Paper industry in your region. Can you say something more?

NTA was built on forest products logistics, serving as a strategic partner to the largest pulp and paper producers operating in the European market. For over 30 years, we have developed our assets across all Polish seaports, a railway terminal in Central Poland, and a warehouse in Southern Poland.

How do you view the Polish market for the end of 2024 leading into 2025?

This year has been full of unexpected market fluctuations. The end of the year, the upcoming presidential election, and legal changes in Poland could have a positive impact on the market.

How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?

The most important aspect is our approach to our Partners. We have built long-term relationships, some lasting over 30 years, since the very beginning of our company. Another key factor is our strong presence in ports, providing us with a wide range of opportunities to carry out complex operations.

We are solution-oriented and rely on the expertise and deep knowledge of our experienced specialists.

What do you like the most about being a member of our logistics network?

The most valuable for us are trustable relations with other Agents and using AGSL services.

When you’re not focused on logistics, how do you like to unwind and enjoy your free time?

I love to spend time with other people, talk and build connections with them. When I need to take rest, then take care about my plants.

If you had to describe your logistics journey using a movie title, what would it be?

The Polar Express.

Thank you, Pawel, for sharing your insights and experience with us!
